I am always on the loose in the quest for food in Maginhawa St. and I’ve been hearing good things about this café so I asked my best friend to give it a try. It is located on the second floor so you should be aware on the direction posted outside the building. Arriving, we were dismayed to see the place because it was small and if I’m not mistaken, it can only fit 10-12 persons.

However, the Photography-themed of the site recovered our fondness to order and try their frappe (you can choose between pixel or megapixel, cool no?) I bet the cost for each was not that pricey plus the shop uses “camera lens” tumblers and that just doubled the joy in my heart (frustrated photographer here!) Can I go back to its theme? Okay. The walls are decorated with photos, and I must say they were good shots. “Camera lens” tumblers are also used as bulbs on the sides of the shop, customers can also write their Hugot lines or anything they want on the papers provided and just attach it to the allotted space (I wrote one). The service was okay. I wish they could find a place with a bigger venue so that they could accommodate more people.

Artsy Café

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Location: 36 Maginhawa Street, Diliman, Quezon City

I think Maginhawa Street never runs out of remarkable food choices. I’ve been in Artsy Café twice and its interior and exterior design are really artistic, making its name suited for the place except for the “café” though, cause I noticed there are not many choices of coffee. My friends like the pastel colored chairs and the artsy doodle inside the store. Oh, what we love most is its very cute cashier counter. Worth instagramming!

Staying here is really refreshing. I’ve tasted their Bolognese, Mojos and Grilled Fish Fillet. Oh man, I was all smiles. Plus, they are not that expensive. We were surprised at first that it’s very budget friendly, even with its bulky serving.

I am really impressed with this store. It’s just perfect for casual dates. Artsy Café is an instagram-worthy place!

Don Day Korean Barbeque Buffet

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Location: #40 Malingap St., Teacher’s Village, Q.C.

It was February 25 when Cheska and I considered a Korean BBQ Buffet to try for lunch. We were really excited since we thought it’s cool to experience something fresh. The place has a pretty wide space to dine in plus the side we have stayed was fully air-conditioned (though we learned that side should only be occupied by the customers who made reservations).

We settled for the unlimited pork and beef for 399php each and additional 50php for unlimited iced tea. There were tons of choices when we went there, and they looked so good. But I was careful in choosing what to eat since I am not a fan of Korean food. There were also so many veggies, I promise you! Upon grilling, the beef became a bit chewy (and I didn’t like it) but the samgyeopsal was great! (always been a devotee of pork here. Lol) A piece of advice, just order the unlimited pork and leave the beef alone. Haha. Swear.

Moving on, I just wanted to comment about the service here. The staff was attentive, especially kuya JD Delfin (not sure if JD or JB, so whatever). He helped us for grilling the meat, and answered our questions patiently about the food and some of our queries. Although, he was too talkative, we couldn’t begin our girls’ talk.

I love this place. I love the pork meat. I love how kuya Delfin served us. I’ll surely come back here. It’s a great place to hang out with friends and load your bellies with not-so-common cuisine.

The Sweet Spot

Rating: 4 out of 5

Location: Ground Floor, Maginhawa Building, 189 Maginhawa Street, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City

Searching for a place to hang out, we chose this sweet haven. With its cozy, appealing interior, this place will surely make you stay longer and enjoy a chit-chat with your friend. You can talk freely since the tables and chairs aren’t that close to one another. Definitely a place to hang out with your gang.

We ate lunch at a Korean Restaurant that’s why our stomachs craved for something sweet.  We ordered Green Tea Tiramisu and Red Velvet. I must say they were really yummy, though the red velvet was too sweet.  I’m giving them a fair score for their delish cakes and a great place. I’m definitely going back again.
